Who we Are
We are Jacqui O and Cee Tom. Together we are Strawberry Blonde Bakery. We love George Michael and we love to bake.
Cee is a vegan baker with a passion for delicious food and ethical treats. She developed an interest in baking while watching her father knead bread and bake delicate pastries in their small country kitchen. After turning vegan, Cee was disappointed by the lack of quality vegan-friendly treats available, and slowly began altering family recipes. With visions of opening a bakery in the future, she enrolled in a Baking and Pastry Arts program at Algonquin College and began experimenting with gluten-free flours. With time (and patience), she began eliminating other allergens from her baking so that everyone could enjoy her treats!
After becoming vegan in 2008, Jacqui noticed an unfortunate lack of delicious cakes and pastries for those with alternative diets. Determined to right this wrong, she took the Baking and Pastry Arts Management program at George Brown College to learn the skills necessary to make tasty and visually appealing treats. After two years of mastering the art and skill of conventional baking, Jacqui has experimented and created equally tasty and beautiful vegan and gluten-free desserts.
TOGETHER a force to be reckoned with
When Cee and Jacqui met in early 2012, it seemed like kismet. Two vegans, who just recently graduated from different pastry schools, with the intentions of opening up an allergen-friendly retail bakery in the Nation’s Capital. After much baking and testing each other’s recipes, the next logical step was to start up a business together and Strawberry Blonde Bakery was formed.
